The Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metro Station has two side platforms and two tracks. Each train goes in two directions named for the last stop on the line.

Bus Connections
The Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metro Station connects passengers to other areas in Virginia. From this station, passengers can transfer to WMATA Metrobus, CUE Bus System and Fairfax Connector (FB) Bus. Bike Racks at Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Station
There are 54 bike racks and 68 lockers at this station. Bicycle racks are available for free on a first-come, first-use basis. Bicycle lockers are available for rent. So you can ride your bicycle to the metro station, leave it there, and take Metro or Metrobus.
Bicycle lockers provide secure parking by improving protection from theft, vandalism, and weather. Each locker is designed to hold one bicycle and bicycle gear. When you rent a locker, you are given a key to open your assigned locker. The space inside is about 1.2m (4 feet) high x 1.9m (6 feet, 5 inches) deep x 0.9m (3 feet) wide at the door and narrows toward the back of the locker. Most standard bicycles will fit inside. However, longer bicycles such as tandem bikes or some recumbent bikes will not fit into the lockers.
To rent a locker, send an email to bikelocker@wmata.com providing your name, address, contact phone number, email address, and station of interest. All locker rentals cost $200 per year, and are subject to availability.

Metro Parking at Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Station
All Day Parking: There are 5,169 parking spots. Cost/day is $4.50. Parking fees are collected upon exit from 10:30 a.m. to Metro closing hours. Parking fees can be paid using SmarTrip® Card and credit cards.
Short-term Metered Parking: There are 71 parking spots. Parking is available in Section B from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 2 a.m., and in Section D from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The rate is $1.00 per 60 mins. Meters at short-term parking spaces accept only quarters and $1 coins.
Additional spaces and costs: The North Kiss & Ride lot (Northside of I-66 at Virginia Center Blvd.) has 45 short-term metered spaces. The South Kiss & Ride lot (Southside of I-66 at Saintsbury Drive) has 26 short-term metered spaces. There are 101 spaces metered for a maximum of 12-hours @ $1.00 per 60 mins.; and 17 spaces metered for a maximum of 7-hours @ $1.00 per 60 mins. Parking is available from 8:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Reserved Parking: There is reserved parking at 2900 Nutley Street. The reserved rate is $65. Monthly permit holders are required to pay the daily fee each time they park. (The daily fee is in addition to the $65 monthly permit fee).
Free Parking: Parking is free at Metro-operated lots and garages on weekends and federal holidays. Most weekends, it is easy to find a space at Metro parking lots.

Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Station
The Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Station is located just west of Interstate-66 with VA-243 Nutley Street near Vienna. It is the furthest station into Virginia on the Orange line. The metro station opened on June 7, 1986. Although Vienna/Fairfax-GMU is the closest station to the Patriot Center-George Mason University, it is not at a walking distance. From the station, take the CUE Green or Gold route to George Mason University.
The Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Station has large parking lots and parking garages on both sides of the station, accessed by enclosed pedestrian overpasses over the highway to the parking facilities, which are adjacent to the highway. The station is very popular with area commuters. As a result, parking lots fill up early in the morning on weekdays. Get to the station before 7:30 a.m. if you plan to park here. On weekends, there are plenty of parking spaces.

Metro is the subway system connecting Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland. The system is operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).
