The White House is the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States and his family. It is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington DC.
Public tours of the White House are available. Requests must be submitted through one's Member of Congress. These self-guided tours are available from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fridays, and 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturdays. Tours are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Requests can be submitted up to six months in advance and no less than 21 days in advance.
The White House is accessible via either the Farragut West Station or McPherson Square Station. Both stations are on the Orange and Blue lines of the Washington DC Metro. For directions, see the map below.
